Er. Ram Rohan Panta, the Regional Representative for South Asia at the Global Peace Foundation, has been awarded the distinguished Dean of International Peace Prize (DOIPP) for 2022. The award was conferred during the 11th Annual International Peace Conference organized by WWA/EQ4Peace in Lalitpur, Nepal, on September 21, 2024, to mark the International Day of Peace.
Panta has been recognized for his outstanding contributions to peacebuilding and development. As a former President of GPF Nepal, he has shown remarkable leadership in advancing social issues, technology, and peace efforts. His notable achievements include leading 1,600 youth volunteers in earthquake relief, organizing major youth seminars, and launching the Global Peace Builders practicum, which has successfully graduated nearly 100 young peace advocates.
Panta’s other significant contributions include organizing the Global Peace Leadership Conference Indo-Pacific 2023 and launching initiatives like the Peace Environment & Tourism Forum and the Udyami Yuva Challenge.
The award was presented by Ms. Deeanna Croasmun, daughter of the late Dr. Dean Van Leuven, Founder Patron of World Without Anger (WWA) and a renowned peace advocate from West Wendover, Nevada, USA. Dr. Dean Van Leuven, widely known as “The Dean of Peace,” devoted his life to promoting global peace and harmony.
The Dean of International Peace Prize (DOIPP) reflects Dr. Van Leuven’s lifelong commitment to demonstrating that peace is essential in times of anxiety and tension. The award includes a certificate, a medal, and a cash prize of NRS. 25,000 (Nepalese Rupees Twenty-Five Thousand).
